Linux Mint developers work on GNOME file manager fork
Linux Mint Cinnamon desktop
An important story (if you use Linux, which you either do or should) by my friend Steven J. Vaughan-Nichols about how Gnome continues to crash and burn, and how other developers are pulling the tastiest bits off its carcass and, Lo! As if they were working with magical parts from a downed phoenix, resurrecting the best parts of Gnome in new and useful ways. In this case, obviously, the subject is Gnome's Nautilus file manager, which the Linux Mint people have forked. The question is, will their fork find its way into Ubunto and other distros, or will it stay within Mint? Only Time will tell. Or ZDNet or (maybe) Slashdot, anyway.
