Why Bense Decided Not to Challenge Harris

I sent Allan Bense an email Monday. Wednesday he decided not to run against Katherine Harris in the Republican Senatorial primary. I therefore take blame/credit for his decision.

Here’s what I wrote:

Dear Speaker Bense:

Please don’t run against Ms. Harris. She is a perfect candidate who embodies all the modern Republican virtues, including:

- Financial generosity toward extremely wealthy people
- Disdain for those who work for a living
- Fake “Christian values” veneer to hide efforts to make rich richer, poor poorer

She is totally in tune with other notable Republicans including Mike “Road Rage” Bennett, Karl Rove, “Duke” Cunnigham, David Duke, Kenneth Lay, and Jack Abramoff.

I am a newly-converted Republican who switched parties so that I can vote for greed instead of good, unearned income over honest work, and help America engage in expensive foreign adventures to benefit oil companies instead of working on energy conservation here at home.

By all accounts, you are a genuinely nice man, not in any way in tune with current Republican ideals. If you value party loyalty, you will support Katherine Harris. As a Senator, you might suddenly get rational by mistake and start worrying about how a country can survive if it lowers taxes for its richest citizens while racking up huge debts future generations of working people must pay. Ms. Harris, who is closer in spirit to Paris Hilton (another notable Republican donor) than to grimy care mechanics and other people who seem to think work is a good way to get money, will never be troubled by such thoughts.

Thank you for your consideration,

Hey, how’s it going? Haven’t been here for awhile, school has been consuming most of my time! Ever notice a lot of people don’t appreciate satire anymore? It’s really quite a shame. Ah well, what can you do?

By the way, I really like the visual changes to your blog; keep up the good work!
