My one cent’s worth: President Bush and other Republican leaders may be closet gays
I’m a married heterosexual male, perfectly happy to be this way. Sadly, President Bush and many Republicans seem to be afraid that unless we have a constitutional amendment prohibiting gay marriage, they’ll leave their wives and marry other men. Or perhaps they’re worried about their wives leaving them for other women. Either way, I think they’d be happier if they admitted they (or their wives) were gay instead of pushing a constitutional amendment to keep themselves from following their inner desires.
Those of us who have no concerns about our sexuality don’t need laws to keep us straight. And people — even Republican politicians — who are gay, but pretending to be straight, ought to stop the pretense and be happy with who and what they are.
But then, this is the same crowd that tried to amend the constitution to prohibit flag-burning. I never needed one to keep me from burning an American flag. Did you need one to help you show proper respect for our flag? I didn’t think so.
I don’t know what it is with some of these right-wing Republicans. Can’t they just exercise some self-control instead of trying to make endless laws to regulate their behavior?
