Ya gotta love this town! First we had a mayoral election with three candidates, one of whom was my “political newcomer” neighbor Bill Johnson. He managed to siphon off enough votes from Mayor Wayne Poston and former Mayor Bill Evers (to whom he threw his support after the first election) that neither one got a majority. So we had a runoff, which Poston won by a glorious total of 24 votes, reduced after a mandatory recount to a huge mandate of… 23 votes. But that’s still worth a party behind the Lost Kangaroo Pub downtown, right?
