I love this state. We’re number one in so many ways, and would be number one in lots of others (like crappy educational opportunities and the number of residents without health insurance) if it wasn’t for Mississippi and Texas. But I am proud to the point of bursting to learn we are for sure #1 in mortgage fraud — at least according to this St. Pete Times story — which means the business deregulation our Republican-dominated legislature likes to boast about is doing what its supposed to do.
