Going after Senator Frist is a bad move

Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist is taking heat because he sold a large number of shares in his family’s Hospital Corporation of America just before its stock price went down. Supposedly this violates some sort of Senate ethics rule, and may also violate SEC insider trading regulations. I believe these are bogus charges. Senator Frist is acting exactly the way he should, and is the victim of partisan attacks by jealous Democrats.

Frist is a Republican, and a party leader at that. His job is to help America’s rich consolidate their control of our country so that working people and other whiners don’t get in the way of economic progress. It is also his duty, as a rich American himself, to increase his fortune in any way he can.

People who vote Republican expect party leaders to enrich themselves and their cronies. Only Democrats and other malcontents see anything wrong with this. This is because they are tainted by too much exposure to the mainstream media and the liberal socialists who dominate it.

It is now the 21st Century. Old ideas about getting ahead by following the rules and trying to live a decent life instead of maximizing revenue opportunities are no longer valid. The American people have spoken in election after election, and we have collectively decided we respect naked greed over public service.

So let’s leave Frist alone. He’s being true to who and what he his. He should get our respect, not condemnation.
