A video montage I made in an attempt to compress several hours of riotous hip-hop, dance, circus acts, and giant, rotating burning heads into a few minutes. It was a Twilight Zone New Years party @ Exquisite Exhibit in the heart of Bradenton’s Village of the Arts. And you wonder why we live in Florida. Ha!
Sometimes, with its old-fashioned neighborhood camaraderie and old houses, Bradenton’s Village of the Arts feels like it’s in the 1950s, not the 2000s. Here’s a casual little New Years Eve get-together at Karen Klosky’s house that easily could have taken place in 1957 instead of 2007.
In 2006 I volunteered to help a local candidate with her campaign. I came in late, and my original offer, to make a series of Internet-delivered campaign videos, soon extended to maintaining her website. Severely outfunded by her eventually victorious opponent, our candidate had high hopes for Internet campaigning. But her online effort was far too little and came too late to do much good.
